Derogatory term for an English-speaking South African who, with divided loyalties, stands with one foot in Africa and one in Britain, his penis trailing in the sea between. May be used for any white, non-Afrikaner.
It is 1964 and Nelson Mandela´s Robben Island incarceration has made him the hero of South Africa´s black population. Colonel Niekerk plans to spring and exile Mandela, depriving the African National Congress of its most charismatic leader and branding him a cowardly runaway.
How can this be done covertly and without apparent government involvement?
Across the Atlantic the CIA´s Fred Polden has a problem. America´s bęte noir, Che Guevara, intends to establish a communist revolutionary state in the Congo, the strategic heart of Africa. Che´s next target is Bolivia, in America´s own backyard. Polden wants Che to stay in Africa, killed for America and buried six feet under, his head and hands cut off and presented to the CIA station chief in Leopoldville.
How can this be done, when the President has forbidden American troops to fight in Africa?
The answer in both cases: use mercenaries. The Squad, derogatorily called The Sowti Squad, is born.
Mercenaries are treated like prostitutes, bought, used, abused and discarded; their masters determine the Sowti Squad as such and so are expendable.
Che Guevara, the world’s favourite revolutionary, kept quiet his failure to export the Cuban revolution to Africa. Che Guevara chose The Congo as the battleground. But in doing so, Che Guevara clashed with the Sowti Squad, a mercenary gang sent by the CIA to The Congo kill him. According to the Sowti Squad, Che Guevara was captured by the mercenary Sowti Squad in The Congo at 0632 hours on 12 November 1965. Che Guevara was eventually executed in Bolivia in a CIA supported operation. Nelson Mandela was incarcerated on Robben Island in 1964. Nelson Mandela soon became the personification of African nationalism. Even his enemies conceded that: “there was only one Nelson Mandela”. Nelson Mandela was to be sprung from jail and exiled. A mercenary gang, the Sowti Squad, was tasked with springing Nelson Mandela from Robben Island and flying him to Botswana. How the plot progressed, and how the mercenary Sowti Squad landed on Robben Island is, according to the mercenary Sowti squad, a previously unknown episode in Nelson Mandela’s life on Robben island.
Mercenaries are the fighting prostitutes of Africa. The Congo, in the 1960s was a mercenary play- ground with the CIA as playground leader. The CIA’s mercenary gang, the Sowti Squad, was pre-eminent in what became the birth of modern mercenary warfare. It was here that the CIA used their mercenary Sowti Squad to attempt Che Guevara’s assassination. The CIA’s attempt to assassinate Che Guevara in the 1960s Congo using the mercenary Sowti Squad was reminiscent of the mercenary assassination of Patrice Lumumba, Congo’s first prime minister. The CIA’s Sowti Squad’s stalking and capture of Che Guevara in eastern Congo is one of the CIA’s untold stories, until now, that is. The CIA’s mercenary Sowti Squad was also used in the coup which brought General Mobutu to power.
